What is an Authorized Court Transcriptionist?
An Authorized Court Transcriptionist, or ACT, is authorized to prepare and certify transcripts from Ontario court recordings.
How do I order a court transcript?
Download and complete Sections 1 through 5 of the official Transcript Order Form of an Ontario Court Proceeding, then send the completed form to RecordVerity. The request will be reviewed and the scope, availability, anticipated cost and next steps confirmed.
What information should I provide?
The official order form collects the required case and court information, proceeding type, content to be transcribed, order details and ordering-party information. Complete Sections 1 through 5; Section 6 is for the Authorized Court Transcriptionist.
Do not send sensitive recordings or confidential material through the public website.
Can I order only part of a proceeding?
Yes. A transcript may cover all or only part of a proceeding. Clearly identify the portion required when making the request.
What is the difference between a court recording and a certified transcript?
A court recording is the authorized audio record of the proceeding. A certified transcript is the written transcript prepared and certified by an Authorized Court Transcriptionist from the authorized recording.
How much does a transcript cost?
Ontario certified court transcript fees are regulated on a per-page basis. The applicable rate depends on the requested turnaround, and the final cost depends on the number of pages produced.
Can I request expedited service?
Expedited service may be available depending on the requested scope, proceeding length, receipt of required materials and current production capacity. Availability should be confirmed before relying on an expedited deadline.
Are all proceedings available for transcription?
Not necessarily. Some proceedings or materials may be subject to access restrictions or additional authorization requirements.
Do you provide service throughout Ontario?
Yes. RecordVerity provides remote transcription services for matters heard throughout Ontario.
How should I send sensitive or confidential materials?
Do not send court recordings, transcripts, exhibits or other sensitive materials through unsecured public website mechanisms. Contact RecordVerity first and appropriate transfer instructions will be provided where applicable.
Can transcription agencies contact RecordVerity for overflow work?
Yes. RecordVerity is open to contractor and overflow relationships with established court-reporting and transcription firms requiring additional Ontario ACT capacity.
